Boundary Waters Experience educates people about low-impact backcountry travel and helps them appreciate our beautiful natural resources.
All of our Trail Guides and campers are trained in Leave No Trace (LNT) camping and travel techniques developed in a coordinated effort between federal land agencies, wilderness educators, environmental scientists, outdoor retailers and equipment manufacturers. Campers are introduced to the concept of environmental stewardship, an acceptance of personal responsibility for maintaining the health and beauty of the natural environment.
By living in simple, self-reliant, low-impact ways in the wilderness, students have the opportunity to analyze firsthand the effect of human activities upon the environment and realize what aspects of their lifestyles back home are wasteful and destructive. We hope that every participant of the Boundary Waters Experience (BWX) is inspired to deepen his or her ties with nature and appreciate the value of preserving God’s wilderness.
